Curating a Substack Notes feed that makes your heart sing, lifts your spirit & always makes you feel you're among supportive friends & colleagues
Online life gets to be swell!
Social media gets a bad rep at times but if you focus on the fun, the friendships made, the inspiration found - it flips everything.
I wanted to give you some practical tips on how to curate your Substack notes feed so it’s;
inspiring
informative in a way that feels GREAT for you
a place for great conversation, colleagueship and kinship
I curated mine from the start. I don’t see;
any news or politics
any person who I don’t think is genuine or is clouting about the internet
any Substack educators except Sarah Fay - she’s my colleague and friend and I’ll always support her - we did this from the beginning - she’s knowledgeable and excellent - a lot of the others imported massive subs lists, had multiple viral moments and started teaching about it and used nlp to get you to buy from them.
I do see
art
nature
literature
great writing and poetry
lots of my members and colleagues
my friends
things that inspire me
things that go viral that also went viral on other social media
bookish things
To curate your notes feed it’s really easy…
everytime you scroll notes and I mean EVERY time… you want to like (1.) the things you like by pressing the heart and mute (2.) the things you don’t.
once a week go to the explore page (3.) into categories (4.) you love (like art, home and garden and like loads more of those things, follow some people if you want)
build your free subscriptions up (you automatically follow these writers)
That’s it!
A beautiful, positive, inspiring Notes feed with no bs, no comparison, no triggers and all the BEST parts of your Substack experience. It makes SUCH a difference I promise!!
Let me know if you try it and see you for Digital Detox (13-17 July 2026) - by Claire Venus 💫 in a few weeks - tell a friend?

P.S - if you’re interested I asked my Notes community how they handle any social media detoxes over summer, I found the thread super interesting so I’ve bumped it up into a post here -
